You have purchased a specific 7 day access to the course content and you will be notified and provided with the passwords for your course when this is live on your account to start studying.
Closer to the time of the course this education learner profile will be updated with all the course information you require. And you will receive all course access codes the Monday of your chosen weeks access at approx. 8am UK time.

Level one: The introductory program whereby we teach you everything you need to know about the ‘anatomy of the reformer’, the links between MW and reformer, how to introduce a client to the reformer and the essential safety elements of getting a client on and off the reformer. We then progress through the beginner series of movements focusing on foot series, single leg series, side series, and beginner level upper body and core work.

APPI’s introduction course to the use of the Pilates Reformer machine is designed to give you all the tools required for a complete program on the reformer. The reformer is considered the most versatile piece of Pilates equipment and the most popular single piece of Pilates equipment used in physical therapy today. This program will teach you movements in supine, sitting, side lying and 4 point kneeling. The movements will cover control, strength, stretch and mobilization of the spine, legs, arms, mid back and head/neck. You will also be introduced to the APPI’s unique movement screen to allow you deliver a clinically reasoned program specific to the needs of your client. APPI is firmly established as the leading force in the delivery of safe and effective Pilates teacher training for the allied health industry. Based on the most up to date evidence, APPI’s Pilates for Rehabilitation – Reformer level 1 course provides rehabilitation professionals with the essential, fundamental knowledge to begin offering reformer Pilates exercises to their clients.

Speaker Bio
Sarah Chambers graduated in Human Biology from Oxford Brookes University, England and then went on to complete her training as a physiotherapist in 1992 from Birmingham University, England. She worked briefly in the NHS before moving to a leading private hospital in North London, the Hospital Of St John and St Elizabeth for 18 years, where she developed a keen interest in movement dysfunction, lumbopelvic stability and muscle imbalances, initially developing a Back Care Exercise program with the National Back Pain Association, following her study with the Kinetic Control group.
Sarah was introduced to the APPI method of Pilates in 2005, subsequently completing all her APPI Matwork Pilates training (2005 – 2008). The APPI method of clinical Pilates focuses on using specific based Pilates exercises to rehabilitate patients back to optimal health and body balance. With her physiotherapy background, Sarah has extensive experience in biomechanical analysis and postural screening to reveal the cause of injury or imbalance. She is passionate that with this knowledge and education, the rehabilitation benefits of Pilates can provide clients, from a variety of backgrounds, improved postural awareness, and help them to develop a deeper understanding of their own bodies. With the versatility of Pilates complete beginners to elite athletes can incorporate it into their program with the ability to transfer the skills they have learnt, into their daily activities achieving their goals with great results!
Sarah is also an APPI International Master trainer, sharing her infectious enthusiasm for Pilates with a wide range of audiences all over Europe, South Africa and Continental US. Her extensive clinical and teaching expertise has earned her the opportunity to work with World Leaders in Pilates Education, presenting workshops at the APPI International Conference. She has also produced 2 DVDS on Standing Pilates with a beginner class aimed at those who struggle with working on the mat. The Intermediate class is aimed at those who wish to improve balance, flexibility and strength in a functional position which will then equip them to return to their sport.

Prior to attending the Reformer Level One course we recommend that you complete the following:
- 20 hours attendance at group or private Pilates (ideally reformer) classes to begin preparing your mind and body for the Pilates training
- You can purchase the Online Reformer Pilates DVD – Beginner & Intermediate to become familiar with the APPI teaching style.
There are various modifications talked through on the course with the use of a Head Cushion, Pilates Circle, Pilates Band and Soft Ball, so if you have these pieces of equipment it is useful to have these at hand for your course attendance.
Please ensure that you have a space that is clear of items so you can follow along with the practical elements of the course.
If you do have any other Pilates equipment please make this available for your course e.g. Pilates soft ball, Pilates band, Pilates magic circle.
** It is not essential for you to have this equipment to partake and complete the course.

APPI Training Courses
Please Note: All APPI USA courses are purchased through APPI USA’s license holder Global Healthcare Education.
Fees: Fees for courses will include tutorials, manuals, morning and afternoon tea and a certificate of attendance. APPI USA takes no responsibility for any additional costs incurred outside of the fees charged.
Matwork and CPD Cancellations and Transfers: Cancellations and transfers are accepted with written notice 14 days prior to the start date. There is a $60.00 admin fee per cancellation or transfer. Participants are allowed to transfer twice, after which no refunds will be given. Once you are within 14 days of the course start date, no cancellations, transfers or refunds will be permitted.
Equipment and Reformer Series Cancellations and Transfers: Cancellations and transfers are accepted with written notice 14 days prior to the start date. There is a admin fee of 20% of the original payment per cancellation or transfer. Once you are within 14 days of the course start date, no cancellations, transfers or refunds will be permitted.
Insufficient funds: A $30 fee will be charged for invalid cheques or declined credit card transactions due to insufficient funds.
3rd Party Payments: If a third party is responsible for payment, the attendee space on the chosen programme will not be confirmed until full payment has been received by APPI USA. Only once full payment is received will the confirmation letter be sent out to the delegate and their space reserved.
Pregnancy Guidelines: In the first trimester, all courses should be suitable for an uncomplicated pregnancy. This is providing that you exercise pre-pregnancy and have discussed this with you GP / Midwife. However, with the exception of our Ante & Post Natal course, we would generally recommend against participating in courses after the 1st trimester, as you will not be able to experience all the movements yourself during this time.

Photo/Video Release: APPI will occasionally have photographs and/or promotional videos taken during the event for use in print and electronic marketing materials including (but not limited to) brochures, advertisements, newsletters and the APPI and other associated websites. Cancellation by APPI: In the case of minimum course participant numbers not being achieved, APPI reserves the right to cancel courses/training programs at any given time. In this event full refunds will be given.
