This course offers education on the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor in relation to the body as a whole. Designed by APPI presenter and pelvic health Physiotherapist, Pippa Carter, this course will give an understanding of pelvic floor dysfunction and considerations needed in relation to exercise, knowledge of key exercises for the pelvic floor. You will also learn how to apply your Pilates exercises to create function in the pelvic floor for your clients.

Online Course Details

Evidence shows 1 in 3 women experience symptoms related to their pelvic floor at some point in their lives. Symptoms include but are not limited to incontinence, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, and/or sexual dysfunction. Pilates and the Pelvic Floor is a 1-day CPD course designed to arm Pilates instructors with the knowledge they need to ensure they have a good understanding of pelvic health and how to adapt their Pilates techniques to ensure they are offering their clients with pelvic floor dysfunction the very best. Designed by APPI Presenter and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, Pippa Carter.

This course offers education on the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor, the function of the pelvic floor in relation to the body as a whole, an understanding of pelvic floor dysfunction and considerations needed in relation to exercise, knowledge of key exercises for the pelvic floor and how to apply your Pilates exercises to create function in the pelvic floor.

The course content has been designed, filmed and is delivered to you by our Master Trainers and Expert Pippa Carter, each part of your course has been broken down into manageable chunks for you to watch, stop, start and refresh over the 7 days that you have access for.

About Pippa Carter

 

Creator of the Pilates and the Pelvic Floor course.

Pippa qualified as a physiotherapist from Salford University in 2008 and has had the opportunity to work in a wide range of areas from NHS and private work to elite level sport. In 2010 she completed her MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at Cardiff University with her research interest focused around dance medicine. Following this she presented her research in Singapore at the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.

Pippa has a special interest in the field of dance medicine and science. She has had the opportunity to work with a number of dance populations from the Royal Ballet Company, leading West End theatre companies and with BBC productions such as Strictly Come Dancing.

Pippa Carter is a Musculoskeletal and Pelvic Health physiotherapist.  She has gained experience and knowledge from a wide variety of settings from the NHS to the private sector. She has been presenting for the APPI since 2015 and currently runs a successful Physiotherapy and Pilates Clinic in South Wales.  Alongside this she works at Spire Cardiff Hospital as a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist.  As part of this role, she works closely with specialist Gynecologists to provide physiotherapy services to women experiencing Pelvic Health symptoms.

This course has been developed from her passion for Pilates and the benefits she has found it has had in helping women experiencing symptoms relating to their pelvic floor. She wanted to develop a course for Pilates instructors to help increase their knowledge of pelvic floor conditions and how they can adapt their Pilates skills to ensure they are offering the best when working with women who are experiencing pelvic floor related conditions.

ONLINE COURSE – When you purchase the Online Course, you get a 7-day access of your choice (Monday – Sunday 8am – 11pm UK time). Within this time you can watch, stop, start, pause as many times as you want.   
It is recommended that you have attended 5 hours of Pilates classes prior to attended APPI’s Pilates for Rehabilitation – Matwork Level 1 course but this is not essential.  This course is open to:

APPI Training Courses

Please Note: All APPI USA courses are purchased through APPI USA’s license holder Global Healthcare Education.

Fees: Fees for courses will include tutorials, manuals, morning and afternoon tea and a certificate of attendance. APPI USA takes no responsibility for any additional costs incurred outside of the fees charged.

Matwork and CPD Cancellations and Transfers: Cancellations and transfers are accepted with written notice 14 days prior to the start date. There is a $60.00 admin fee per cancellation or transfer. Participants are allowed to transfer twice, after which no refunds will be given. Once you are within 14 days of the course start date, no cancellations, transfers or refunds will be permitted.

Equipment and Reformer Series Cancellations and Transfers: Cancellations and transfers are accepted with written notice 14 days prior to the start date. There is a admin fee of 20% of the original payment per cancellation or transfer. Once you are within 14 days of the course start date, no cancellations, transfers or refunds will be permitted.

Insufficient funds: A $30 fee will be charged for invalid cheques or declined credit card transactions due to insufficient funds.

3rd Party Payments: If a third party is responsible for payment, the attendee space on the chosen programme will not be confirmed until full payment has been received by APPI USA. Only once full payment is received will the confirmation letter be sent out to the delegate and their space reserved.

Pregnancy Guidelines: In the first trimester, all courses should be suitable for an uncomplicated pregnancy. This is providing that you exercise pre-pregnancy and have discussed this with you GP / Midwife. However, with the exception of our Ante & Post Natal course, we would generally recommend against participating in courses after the 1st trimester, as you will not be able to experience all the movements yourself during this time.
