Pilates & Hypermobility
This 1 day course takes you through many of the issues you will be faced with when working with clients of all ages with hypermobility.
The course begins with a review of the theory around hypermobility, including the hypermobility pyramid used to grade the seriousness of the disease. A full review of the assessment of hypermobility will be undertaken and guidelines on the cautions, pre-cautions and contra-indications of working with hypermobility, joint hypermobility syndrome, marfans syndrome and Ehlers Danlos.
During the afternoon workshops will focus on the practical exercises used in the rehabilitation of the various types of hypermobility discussed in the morning session, including a template class plan that can be used as a hypermobility class.
Following this course you will be able to:
- Recognize how to accurately assess for a hypermobility disorder
- Explain the differences between flexibility, hypermobility and hypermobility disorders
- Use APPI’s upper limb strengthening Pilates exercises for clients with hypermobility
- Use APPI’s abdominal strengthening Pilates exercises for clients with hypermobility
- Use APPI’s trunk strengthening Pilates exercises for clients with hypermobility
- Use APPI’s Lower limb strengthening Pilates exercises for clients with hypermobility
- Use APPI’s standing Pilates exercises for clients with hypermobility
- Create a Pilates class for the hypermobile population
COURSE COMPLETION & ASSESSMENT
In order to receive a certificate for this course, learner is required to:
- Submit Feedback & self-reflection under personal password protected account page
- Achieve at 70% or higher score on post course assessment*
*Learner is allowed multiple attempts if necessary in order to achieve a passing score

Before attending this course, it is recommended that you attend APPI’s Pilates for Rehabilitation – Matwork Level 1 or another 2 day Pilates Matwork education course.
