- Exclusive to APPI, our surface anatomy workshops whereby you will learn to see, touch and analyze your anatomy on each other. These surface anatomy workshops are usually taught on Physiotherapy degree courses but are now part of the APPI’s Comprehensive Matwork Pilates Program.
- 13 days of on course tutoring:
- Day 1: Induction Day – Learn the 5 key elements of successful Plates Teaching, begin your anatomy and learn the course requirements.
- Day 2: Masterclass, Theory of the Spine, Surface Anatomy of the Spine, Fundamental Pilates movements.
- Day 3: Masterclass, Theory of the Pelvis and Hip, Surface anatomy of Pelvis and Hip, Beginner exercises and Pilates teaching script.
- Day 4: Masterclass, Theory of knee, foot and ankle, Surface anatomy of knee, foot and ankle, Beginner exercises continued.
- Day 5: Masterclass, Theory of Neck, shoulder and upper limb, surface anatomy of Neck, shoulder and upper limb, Beginner exercises continued, group Pilates teaching practice.
- Day 6: Masterclass, Class design workshop, Initial session assessment and postural assessment workshop, beginner exercises finalized, group Pilates teaching.
- Day 7: Students lead Pilates class, further class teaching workshops, intermediate Pilates exercises.
- Day 8: Masterclass, stretching techniques for Pilates teachers, stretching in a Pilates class, intermediate exercises continued.
- Day 9: Masterclass, Developing your Pilates service workshop including setting up a Pilates business, marketing, advertising, social media and more, intermediate exercises continued.
- Day 10: Masterclass, reviewing visual imagery in your Pilates teaching, Standing exercises for warm ups, cool downs and bone building.
- Day 11: Masterclass, advanced Pilates movements, Mobility Pilates movements, group Pilates practice teaching.
- Day 12: Masterclass, Advanced Pilates movements, examination preparation, sequencing workshop, future developments for your ongoing career.
- Â Day 13: Exercise review and revision module.

How long is the course?
The course will require around 214 hours of commitment between tutor contact hours, practice hours and observation hours.
When you purchase the online Pilates Matwork Certification Course, this course contains a 6 month access of your choice (first Monday of the month). Within this time you can watch, stop, start, pause the content as many times as you want.

Can I choose which dates I do?
This course runs as 6 set weekend dates. You will have the option to choose which set of weekends you choose, but the modules are not interchangeable with other set course dates.
Is there an exam?
Yes. The exam is a 30 minute practical and a 60 minute theory exam. Both can be submitted online to APPI Health Group. Students will only be a Certified APPI Pilates Instructor once completing the exam.
Are there any pre-course requirements?
You will need to have attended 10 hours of Pilates classes

Certification requires completion of the Pilates Matwork Certification Course, completion of observation hours, self-practice, self-study, and practice teaching.
The APPI expects that the recommended additional course work is completed and documented in this portfolio. The additional course work prescribed is crucial for the development of experienced, analytical, and confident instructors.
You will be required to submit your completed portfolio at your Certification Exam.

Pre-course attendance at Pilates classes/or one to one sessions
In total we recommend you attend at least 10 Pilates Classes or DVD classes prior to starting the course. In order to be a good Pilates instructor, you will need to attend regular classes or one to one sessions yourself. We recommend you attend classes with an APPI Certified Pilates instructor, if you are unable to find an instructor in your area there are a number of APPI America Online Courses on our website we recommend for this purpose. |

Contact tutorial hours and supervised teaching
This is the total number of attendance hours within the Pilates Matwork Certification Course. Any contact tutorial hours missed must be made up by the course participant. |

Observation
Includes learning by observing other Pilates Instructors teaching. Contact the APPI for advice on booking times at APPI Centers or other centers if required. Again, we have a number of Online Courses with our APPI Presenters which are recommended substitutes. |

Practice teaching
Time should be dedicated to practice teaching the Pilates movements. We recommend teaching friends and family throughout your course. |

APPI Training Courses
Please Note: All APPI USA courses are purchased through APPI USA’s license holder Global Healthcare Education.
Fees: Fees for courses will include tutorials, manuals, morning and afternoon tea and a certificate of attendance. APPI USA takes no responsibility for any additional costs incurred outside of the fees charged.
Matwork and CPD Cancellations and Transfers:Â Cancellations and transfers are accepted with written notice 14 days prior to the start date. There is a $60.00 admin fee per cancellation or transfer. Participants are allowed to transfer twice, after which no refunds will be given. Once you are within 14 days of the course start date, no cancellations, transfers or refunds will be permitted.
Equipment and Reformer Series Cancellations and Transfers:Â Cancellations and transfers are accepted with written notice 14 days prior to the start date. There is a admin fee of 20% of the original payment per cancellation or transfer. Once you are within 14 days of the course start date, no cancellations, transfers or refunds will be permitted.
Insufficient funds:Â A $30 fee will be charged for invalid cheques or declined credit card transactions due to insufficient funds.
3rd Party Payments:Â If a third party is responsible for payment, the attendee space on the chosen programme will not be confirmed until full payment has been received by APPI USA. Only once full payment is received will the confirmation letter be sent out to the delegate and their space reserved.
Pregnancy Guidelines:Â In the first trimester, all courses should be suitable for an uncomplicated pregnancy. This is providing that you exercise pre-pregnancy and have discussed this with you GP / Midwife. However, with the exception of our Ante & Post Natal course, we would generally recommend against participating in courses after the 1st trimester, as you will not be able to experience all the movements yourself during this time.

Photo/Video Release: APPI will occasionally have photographs and/or promotional videos taken during the event for use in print and electronic marketing materials including (but not limited to) brochures, advertisements, newsletters and the APPI and other associated websites. APPI retains the full rights to use these materials in promoting and marketing all courses, workshops, future conferences and any other APPI events not mentioned herein.
Cancellation by APPI: In the case of minimum course participant numbers not being achieved, APPI reserves the right to cancel courses/training programs at any given time. In this event full refunds will be given.
