This exciting and innovative 1 day course investigates the concept that osteoporosis is the next epidemic to hit the healthcare industry. The course will cover the epidemiology, prevalence and incidence of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis currently causes more days in hospital than some more publicized diseases, such as cancer! With the growing and aging population it is predicted that the epidemic of osteoporosis will only grow and grow. One of the key components of not only managing osteoporosis but preventing its onset with exercise. Several research studies have proven that the use of Pilates movements is one of the key components to managing this disease. Pilates for Osteoporosis is an innovative 12 step program that delivers the answer to one of the worlds growing epidemics within healthcare. Worldwide 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will suffer from osteoporotic illness in their lifetime.
In this 1 day course APPI delivers a unique step by step process of creating a program that is based on targeting the common fracture sites that the research into osteoporosis suggests. Furthermore, this program has the key concept of getting clients off the floor in managing osteoporosis and ensuring that the benefit of weight bearing exercise can be linked to Pilates movements.
Following the course attendees will be able to:
- Evaluate the recent research into osteoporosis
- Apply APPI’s step by step program based on targeting the common fracture sites
- Recognize how to get clients off the floor in managing osteoporosis
- Distinguish how weight bearing Pilates movements can benefit osteoporosis
Course Completion and Assessment
In order to receive a certificate for this course, learner is required to:

- Achieve 70% or higher score on post course assessment*
*Learner is allowed multiple attempts if necessary to achieve a passing score
In order to complete this course it is recommended that you have attended APPI’s Pilates for Rehabilitation – Matwork Level One course or a 2 day Pilates Matwork course with a recognized Pilates training provider.
