This dynamic online seminar explores the requirements of the dancer and the demands of regime to provide a broad understanding of Pilates based dance rehabilitation.
Course Content
Pilates for Dancers looks at the specific needs of the dancer, with the focus on ballet, in relation to common injuries, technique flaws, determining pointe shoe readiness, and how to choose or modify the Pilates exercises to be more specific to the dancer population. During this course you will take an in-depth look at the lumbopelvic region, the hip and the foot and ankle, as well as consider the necessity of mobilization and the importance of proprioception and balance re-education.
Learning Objectives
Following this course you will be able to:
- Consider basic ballet positions and evidence based pointe readiness tests
- Identify common flaws of turn out and ankle positioning and common overuse injuries
- Recognize how rehabilitation Pilates exercises can be used to address the specific needs of a dancer for the lumbopelvic region, hip, foot and ankle as well as mobility and balance/proprioception.
