FAQs
Why are continuing education requirements for athletic trainers necessary?
Athletic trainers are required to meet continuing education requirements to ensure they continue to evolve in a rapid pace practice. CEs keep trainers informed and up to date on what is happening within their industry. While this required learning enhances the career of an athletic trainer, it also protects their clients who depend on them.
What are the continued education requirements for an athletic trainer?
Continuing education requirements vary from state to state, with state Board establishing rules for both the type and amount. Common CEUs include courses in the areas of emergency medicine, massage therapy, and nutrition. The type of CE credits accepted and the approved institutions to provide these credits are also determined by the Board and state regulations.
What is the difference between CEUs and CCUs?
These are basically the same thing – Athletic Trainers Continuing Education. Since each state Board sets the requirements, they often have specific language as well. Some states now use the phrase Continuing Competency Units.
Can I get all of my AT continuing education requirements online?
Since each state sets their own regulations for CE requirements, it is possible that they could all be met online. However, many states do limit the number of hours that can be completed strictly online.
How do I find out how many continuing education credits are awarded for the course or seminar?
Each course provides a description that will identify the learning objectives, viewing time and state approved CEUs available.
How do I get credit?
You will receive a Certificate of Completion and CE credit if available at the completion of the course. Your certificate will be available online, just click on the My Account link for access. If your certificate is not online, please contact us at info@globalhealthcareeducation.com with your name and the course details.
