Below you’ll find all the necessary information about your online practical exam submission and your theory exam.
CASE STUDY FORM: Your Case Study Form can be found HERE. Please fill it in digitally, using the boxes provided in the PDF file, then save the document and upload it together with your video and Logbook on (or before) the day of you exam submission. A link will be sent to you so that you can save the Case Study Form, Video and Logbook in one file. You will also find a link to complete your theory exam in the same email.
APPI LOGBOOK: Please upload the scanned copy of your completed Logbook along with your Case Study and Practical Exam video to the same folder.
EXAM FILMING: (Here are a few tips to help with your filming)
- Please make sure that your practical session is no longer than 30min. This counts towards your mark (your client intro doesn’t count towards your 30min practical session, so your final video will indeed be slightly longer than 30min altogether).
- Make sure you are brief on the instructions on the video (client history). Please provide: your client’s history (any injuries or issues that you are trying to improve through the use of your chosen programme) + the main clinical aims of your session and why they are relevant to your client (what you are trying to achieve by applying the exercises you’ve chosen).
- You can then just move straight into your session, try to make it as fluid as possible, just like you would do during a normal class.
- Variations: you are not required to show the exercise variations during the filming, those will be described within your Case Study Form.
- While filling your Case Study Form in, try to be as clear as possible on each section. This will help us understanding your line of thinking, choice of movements and variations.
- We advise that you choose a client/body that has done some Pilates before. It does not need to be anyone very experienced, but someone who has been introduced to Pilates before. This will avoid the need to spent too long teaching them the 5 key elements for the first time, in order to then be able to perform your chosen exercise.
- Before each exercise: please just make sure that you say the name of the exercise you are going to show next; show the exercise as you briefly instruct the patient; and then go into your teaching while getting the patient to perform the exercise.
EXAM SUBMISSION: (Please follow the instructions below to upload your video)
- Record your 30min video (you are not required to film in high resolution – you may do it on your phone too – we recommend you save the video on a SD 720×480 format). This will maintain the size of your file more manageable, easier and quicker to upload.
- The submission day is the final day for uploading your video – if you wish to upload your documents before this time you are welcome to do so, but they will not be marked until the submission day.
- Upload this video to the same folder as your case study, a link will be provided.
- Sit your Theory Exam Online (instructions below).
